Walk the Futures: Innsbruck Edition is a guided, story-driven walking workshop set in familiar places around the city. Together, we’ll explore what life in Innsbruck could look like in the year 2055, through sensory artefacts, imaginative storytelling, and thoughtful group reflection. Each session is small (6-12 people) and designed to be reflective, personal, and participatory.
This isn’t a lecture or a seminar about “the future.” It’s a chance to walk and experience possible futures, locally and together.
This edition is designed specifically for people who live or work in or around Innsbruck. It’s part of an international research study exploring how we connect with possible futures when they’re grounded in the places we know and care about.
What to expect from Walk the Futures
- A series of short, guided walks through the city
- Stories set in the future
- Multi-sensory “artefacts” from different futures
- Small-group conversations
- Creative exercises to stretch your imagination and open up new ways of thinking.
Each Walk the Futures experience lasts 5–6 hours, includes snacks and a light lunch, and is free to participate for anyone meeting the study criteria.
To participate, we ask you to confirm that:
- You are 18+
- You live or work in Innsbruck (or have a strong connection to Innsbruck)
- You can walk or move through the city for +-2 hours (with a mobility aid if needed)
- You can commit to participating fully in the study: this means participating in the walkshop (5-6 hours) plus 3 questionnaires and an optional interview
- You are NOT a full-time student
No prior knowledge needed: just bring your curiosity.
